Ma’ayan, a little girl who lives in the City of David, invites young readers to accompany her on a wondrous journey through Jerusalem.She explores the places near her home, wandering between the past and the present.

Along the way, Ma’ayan discovers relics of Jerusalem’s glorious past. She enriches young readers as she offers them a glimpse of Jerusalem’s magnificent history that spans three thousand years, from King David’s time until today.

As Ma’ayan shares authentic archeological findings that were recently discovered, her readers experience the royalty and grandeur of ancient Jerusalem.

Near the waters of her beloved ‘ma’ayan’, the fresh-water spring, Ma’ayan discovers that she is also an integral part of the story and that history continues to be written about her, her family and about the Israel we know today. At the end of the book, the readers are invited to visit Jerusalem, to draw what they see in the city and to be a part of the story themselves.

Efrat Bazak, a lecturer and tour guide in Jerusalem, has been living in the City of David for over a decade and a half, together with her husband and children. She tells the story through the eyes of her daughter, Ma’ayan.

The book is presented with childhood grace and is geared to young readers. It is enhanced with charming illustrations by talented Hadas Huri.
